“Go Sage” Nie Weiping passed away

Nie Weiping, honorary chairman of the Chinese Weiqi Association and a ninth-dan player known as the “Go Sage”, passed in Beijing on Wednesday after an unsuccessful course of medical treatment at the age of 74. He is the icon of Chinese go and the rise of Chinese sports in the 1980s.
