Quan Hongchan Abuse Sparks Police Call

On April 8, the Guangdong Ersha Sports Training Center issued a statement in response to the online abuse, privacy violations, and malicious attacks targeting Olympic champion Quan Hongchan. The center said it has reported the case to the police, firmly opposes toxic fan culture, and will pursue legal action to protect the athlete’s rights.

China’s National Swimming Center also voiced support, condemning the growing fan‑circle chaos in sports.

As a two‑time Olympic diving champion, Quan Hongchan has long faced intense public pressure. She has suffered severe cyberbullying online and serious harassment in her daily life.
