CBA Probes Alleged Age Fraud

Chinese basketball authorities have taken notice of the questions raised online on April 11 regarding the age of U18 men’s national team player Li Yize and have launched an investigation.

A representative of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) stated: “The CBA is aware of the situation and is currently conducting a verification process together with the relevant departments. The association will handle the matter with a serious and fact‑based attitude, and the findings and subsequent decisions will be released to the public in a timely manner.”

On the 11th, multiple online media outlets and social media accounts reported that Li Yize’s appearance closely resembles that of a player named Zhang Hanbo, who previously competed in domestic youth tournaments, raising suspicions that they may be the same person.
