Zhang/Siniakova reach Toronto doubles semis

In the early hours of August 11 Beijing time, top seeds Zhang Shuai and Kateřina Siniaková delivered a solid and well-coordinated performance in the WTA1000 Toronto women’s doubles quarterfinals, defeating Storm Hunter and Desirae Krawczyk 6-4, 6-3 to secure a semifinal spot.  

In the first set, both pairs held serve early. Zhang and Siniaková used precise shot placement and variation to disrupt their opponents’ offense, applied pressure in key games, and capitalized on a service break to take the lead before closing out the set 6-4.  

The second set saw the Chinese-Czech duo grow increasingly fluent in transition play. They earned a decisive break in the 5th game to go up 3-2, then broke again in the 9th game—with their opponents serving to stay in the match—to seal a 6-3 win and complete a straight-sets victory.
