This is Zheng Qinwen's first appearance in a Grand Slam qualifying tournament since the Australian Open in 2022. In the first round, she defeated fellow Chinese player You Xiaodi 2-0. Today, she faced France's Burel in the second round; although Burel is ranked outside the top 400, she has previously beaten renowned players like Rybakina.

In today's match, Zheng Qinwen completely dominated the first set, winning five straight games after the score was tied at 1-1, taking the set 6-1. The second set was much more competitive than the first. Zheng Qinwen's return game was not ideal, and she made some errors from the baseline, but Burel double-faulted twice at crucial moments. Zheng seized the key break and, after entering the serve-for-the-match game at 6-5, gave her opponent no more chances, sealing the victory at 7-5.

With this, Zheng Qinwen has successfully advanced to the final round of the qualifying tournament. As long as she defeats Pridankina in the next match, Zheng will qualify for the US Open Women's Singles main draw.
