On October 13, the Shanxi Women’s Basketball Team officially announced that Chinese national team center Li YueRu has formally joined the team. Li YueRu will represent Shanxi in the first stage of the regular season, and then around December 18, she will travel to the United States to participate in the Unrivaled League. After completing her tasks in that league, she will promptly return to Shanxi to continue playing for the team.

The official announcement from Shanxi Women’s Basketball Team is as follows:
We are delighted to announce: Li YueRu, born in Changzhi, Shanxi and a source of pride for Chinese women’s basketball, greatly beloved by Chinese fans, will join the Shanxi Women’s Basketball Team during the WNBA offseason. She will wear jersey number 28 and represent Shanxi in a portion of the 2026-27 WCBA season. Through continuous communication and effort from the club, this return home has been made possible—a dual journey back to her roots. Her return to Shanxi fulfills the long-standing expectations of fans, and she will be the most important key for Shanxi as we vie for the championship.
Li YueRu is a world-class center with both offensive and connective abilities, and is a mainstay for the Chinese women’s basketball team on the international stage. She has participated in the Olympics, Women’s Basketball World Cup, Asian Cup and other top international competitions multiple times, having won the World Cup runner-up and the Asian Games championship. In the WCBA, she has also claimed the league title, Regular Season MVP, Finals MVP, Best Center, and other major honors. We welcome Shanxi fans to witness her charm on the court in the new season. However, as Li YueRu needs to participate in the Unrivaled League in the United States during the WNBA offseason, she will play in part of the first stage of the regular season for our club, and then travel to the US around December 18 for the Unrivaled League. Once her US assignment is completed, she will return to Shanxi at the earliest opportunity, continue delivering high-quality games for her hometown fans, and lead the whole team in our push for the championship!
