While Guangzhou announce the appointment of Zheng Zhi as the head coach to replace Liu Zhiyu, a former academy coach, Huang Bowen and Mei Fang join the staff as assistants. The duo were Zheng Zhi's long-term teammates during the heyday of Guangzhou Evergrande.
