Ning Zhongyan made breakthrough in Milan

In the men’s 1,000 metres speed-skating final at the Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics, Ning Zhongyan clocked 1:07.34 to claim the bronze medal, marking a historic breakthrough for the Chinese delegation in this event. “As I waited for the other skaters to finish, my emotions were all over the place. You never know how it’s going to turn out. If I had ended up fourth, all the effort and sacrifice of the past four years would have come to nothing. Fourth place is the hardest to accept—the biggest loser—and I couldn’t live with that，” Ning Zhongyan said after the breakthrough.
