WNBA team drafts Chinese player

On April 14, the 2026 WNBA Draft was held, and the Atlanta Dream selected Chinese player Ran Kejia with the 43rd overall pick in the third round. This marks the first time in seven years that a Chinese player has been drafted by a WNBA team.

In 1997, Zheng Haixia was selected 16th overall in the second round by the Los Angeles Sparks in the inaugural WNBA Draft, becoming the first Chinese player to enter the league.

At the 2019 WNBA Draft, Han Xu was selected 14th overall in the second round by the New York Liberty, while Li Yueru was picked 35th overall in the third round by the Atlanta Dream.
