On May 1, Beijing time, the 2026 World Aquatics Diving World Cup Finals kicked off at the National Aquatics Center "Water Cube" in Beijing. In the first event – the men's synchronized 3m springboard final – the Chinese duo Wang Zongyuan/Zheng Jiuyuan delivered absolute dominance, finishing first in all six dives. They secured the gold medal with a total of 460.68 points, claiming China's first gold of the competition.

As the primary pairing for the Los Angeles Olympics, Wang and Zheng have performed steadily and impressively since reuniting as a pair in 2025. They won the men's synchro 3m title at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore with 467.31 points, and took gold in the same event at the 2026 Diving World Cup in Montreal with a commanding 461.37 points. Competing on home soil, they were determined to win.
From preliminaries to the final, Wang and Zheng's advantage was clear. In the final, their six dives displayed unshakable dominance – each ranked first among all pairs. With a tally of 460.68 points, they stood atop the podium without any doubt.
After the final, Wang said that he and Zheng officially teamed up last year. As a new partnership, the pair have gone through a gradual process of learning to work together in training, constantly refining their technique. "Since we paired up last year, we've trained together every day, reviewed our performances together, and tackled problems as they arose. It hasn't been easy, but every bit of progress gives us more confidence."
