On November 3 (Beijing Time), the 2026 WTT Champions Frankfurt kicked off its opening day. In a just-concluded men's singles Round of 32 match, No. 4 seed and Chinese player Wang Chuqin swept Denmark's Anders Lind 3-0 (11-7, 14-12, 11-9) to advance. Notably, this was Wang's first match since the Asian Games. He will next face the winner between compatriot Wen Ruibo and South Korea's An Jaehyun.

At the tournament, Wang is the No. 4 seed, while Lind entered the main draw via his world ranking. This was their fourth career meeting on the WTT circuit; in the previous three, Wang held a 1-2 record. Their last encounter was in July at the 2026 WTT US Smash Round of 16, where Wang lost 1-3 (11-13, 2-11, 11-8, 7-11).

On Monday (Nov 2), the ITTF released the Week 45 world rankings. Wang moved up one spot to world No. 4 with 6,157 points, while Lind dropped one spot to No. 17 with 2,497 points.

Lind started the match quickly, taking a 5-1 lead. Wang adjusted and won four straight to tie it at 5-5. Playing patiently and dominating the rallies, Wang took the first game 11-7. The second game was a back-and-forth battle. Trailing 4-6, Lind called a timeout and returned to take an 8-7 lead. Wang edged ahead through strong serving, but Lind's lucky net cords tied it at 10-10. The game reached a nerve-wracking 11-11, 12-12... Under pressure, Wang was more decisive and took it 14-12!

In the third game, both players went on scoring runs. After trailing 0-1, Wang won six straight points. Lind then won four in a row to close the gap to one, prompting Wang to call a timeout. After the break, the score alternated. Trailing 7-9, Wang won four consecutive points to clinch the game and complete the sweep!

According to the draw, Wang is in the bottom half, with compatriots Zhou Qihao and Wen Ruibo in his quarter. He will face the winner of Wen Ruibo and An Jaehyun, which is scheduled for around 21:55 on November 4.
